Perfect laptop in every sense except for the scree

Everything about this laptop is great, except for the screen. It looks a bit dull, could have been a bit brighter and sharper. It's not bad, it's just it can be improved.
The laptop is silent and dosn't overheat. The battery lasts several hours. The keyboard is nice, deep enough and with enough tactical feedback. Touchpad works great! I had some troubles with finger scanner, but I am not sure if the problem is the HW or Fedora. Most ports are on the left side, which is cool since I am right handed. The camera has a privacy screen. I would buy it again,

Decent but heavy

The laptop is quite heavy, which was anticipated due to its design and features. Unfortunately, its startup time is painfully slow, often taking several minutes. Even during basic tasks, it processes information sluggishly despite having ample storage space—its memory usage has never surpassed 70% and 40% when doing everyday tasks. The performance deteriorates significantly when I attempt to multitask or run demanding applications. This lag is particularly disappointing because this workstation was specifically selected for its ability to handle heavy workloads efficiently. This has been present since day 1.

Robust model for home office

The laptop has been good thus far and a big step up for me. I had my last laptop 10 years. Things I like; speed, screen, ethernet connection. The step up was fairly easy especial with the PC transfer software. What I would like to see improvements on, information on wolf security, maybe a couple more USB ports. I have not had to travel with it yet, but I really wish all the same features came in a 15" model.

Great Laptop!

sThis is a great laptop! I got it to run MATLAB and to learn Linux (so it came with Linux Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS). It has a 5-hour battery and recharges quickly, and helpfully has a NUMLOCK key with a LED that indicates its state. Its fast enough for my purposes, although for long simulations, I use my HP desktop and work here while they're running. It would be nice if more applications were available for and compatible with Linux, and I expect this to improve as Linux increases in popularity. I might also use this laptop for gaming, although that's not my immediate reason for getting it. I've had only HP computers (desktops and laptops) since the 1980s.

Solid Mobile Workstation with some Caveats

My ZBook Power 16 G11 A was customized with the 8845HS Ryzen 7, a card reader, and I afterwards upgraded the RAM to 64GB DDR5 5600 factory specs. I went with Ubuntu since Windows is worthless to me and not secure in the least and out of the box, the system ran great. It came with HPs custom Ubuntu variant which was fine but I went with a clean install and went from there.
Overall, it's fast, the keyboard is acceptable, the touchpad is large, and the wifi 6e is acceptable. I think that with the discount I received during their sale, this was a solid deal. At full price though, it would be a hard sell.
First, the screen itself is mediocre at best. I went with the basic touch screen 1900x1200 resolution option and right out of the box I could see some issues on the edges of the screen. Some obvious flaws where the blacks were being saturated by LEDs that are either not installed correctly or faulty out of the box. It wasn't worth opening a ticket since I use this laptop with monitors most of the time and IT on the go the rest. So this isn't something I notice unless I boot it up for the first time each day.
Second, the camera is fine and the inclusion of a physical blocking switch is nice. However, the plastic piece on the outside bubbles up in one area. This is a minor annoyance but to me, should have been QA/QC'd at this price point. Perhaps this being built in China probably had something to do with it...
On the good side of things. The battery life is fine at balanced or battery saver mode on Ubuntu. I can use it for quite some time. I switched it to power mode and ran some basic AI stuff, like creating a story, generating a powershell script, etc. and it handled it fine and ate the battery up as expected. This isn't a knock, it's just something I wanted to see, so that I know in the future. Still, even on performance mode, I'd expect to get about 5 hours of battery life out of it.
Next, the biggest and best thing about this laptop is the I/O. 2 USB-C 4, 2 USB-A, RJ-45 Ethernet, HDMI, full size SD slot, audio jack, card reader, and a K-lock is fantastic. I didn't need the WWAN card but that is also an option if you need 5G cell internet access from a provider. No matter what I may need to do, I have the I/O on hand.
Another great design choice was that the laptop can charge via the A/C barrel plug or through USB-C. I bought the HP Dock with the laptop so that I can leave the power brick in my bag and not deal with the hassle of coming home everyday and having to plug it back in under the desk.
Other things to note, at this price point, you are getting a laptop that isn't going to have the "Hinge Problems (HP)" issues their lower end systems exhibit. It almost folds 180 degrees and is solid. The aluminum chassis is nice, doesn't leave marks from your hands easily, and is generally sturdy.
On an ending note, it would have been nice to have more screen resolution options, easier access to the underplate for RAM upgrades, a better UEFI/BIOS (It's the same atrocious white screen), and less of a screen bezel. But, in the end, with the sale, it's an easy buy.

I purchased this model so I can use Autocad Civils 3-d, and I am very pleased. I would have liked a 17inch screen, but appearantly they do not make them anymore, if I understood correctly? My old HP laptop was on its last legs, so this new HP laptop came at the right time. Very responsive, dynamic, user friendly...all you could want, and performant. And I ordered one day and it arrived the next day!!!! Amazing service.
